Description : A Big Lottery supported timebank that will launch in North Wales in May 2012
About : The need for a Timebank in North Wales was identified through two events held in July and August 2011, by Acces3ability Ltd, a social enterprise specialising in consortia building and models of coproduction service delivery. These were attended by a number of voluntary sector bodies and statutory bodies. Those present stated that a timebank model would benefit their agency, their staff, volunteers and their service users, but that the knowledge or infrastructure was not present to allow this to happen spontaneously.
Subsequent to this a number of organisations came together to form Patchwork Circles, and unincorporated community group, and this group put in a bid to the Big Lottery in Wales to get funding to start the Patchwork Shares Timebank and put in place a catalystfor the infrastructure needed. The aim is to launch the timebank which was originally agency to agency but is now being caste more broadly at a conference entitled “Communities Can 2012″ at Parc Eirias on 2nd May 2012.
